When installing an Autodesk product version 2015 or 2016, the below error message may appear.
.NET 4.5 is not installed. AutoCAD Electrical 2016 cannot be installed without this component. See your system administrator for more information.

Solution:

Follow the below steps:

  1. Install the hotfix for 2015/2016 versions:
  1. Try again to install the software.


If the issue persists, Edit the Windows registry to change the .NET version:

  1. On the keyboard, hold down the Windows key and press R.
  2. In the Run window, enter REGEDIT and click OK.
  3. Find the following registry key in the left pane:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4
  1. Right-click the key and select export. Save it as a .reg file to back it up.
  2. Find and select the following keys in the left pane:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4Client
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4Client1033
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4Full
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4Full1033
  1. In the right pane, double-click Version for each key and make a note of it. Then change the corresponding value to 4.5. Note: If it is not possible to modify the registry key due to an Access denied error, follow these steps:
    1. Click the key whose ownership needs to be changed.
    2. On the Edit menu, click Permissions.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. Click Change next to the Ownerfield.
    5. Type your username, then click OK.
    6. Click OK again to close the dialog Advanced Security Settings for Client.
    7. Back to the Permissions for Client dialog, assign Full Control to Users.
    8. Click OK to close this window.
    9. Try to change again the value for Version to 4.5.
  2. Close the Registry Editor.
  3. Try to install the Autodesk software again.
  4. After a successful installation, go to the folder in which the original registry key was exported as in step 4, and double-click the .reg file.

  1. Confirm that the following Microsoft updates are installed:
    • KB3081448
    • KB3081449
    • KB3081452

    1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off.
    2. Verify that .NET Framework 4.6 is selected.
